Ana Montana, Partner of NBA Star LaMelo Ball, Faces Felony Drug Charges in North Carolina

Analicia Chaves, widely recognized as Instagram personality Ana Montana and the partner of NBA player LaMelo Ball, is currently facing serious legal challenges after being arrested on felony drug charges in North Carolina.

The 36-year-old model was taken into custody at a Mecklenburg County jail earlier this week. Her arrest concludes a multi-month police investigation that focused on an incident at a Charlotte pharmacy earlier this year.

Details of the Investigation and Charges

According to official court documents, the legal entanglement began in February when Chaves reportedly went to a local Walgreens pharmacy to acquire a prescription for Xanax.

Law enforcement officials contend that the prescription used a physician's stolen Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration and provider credentials. This alleged misuse led authorities to issue arrest warrants against her.

Chaves has been formally charged with two felony counts of obtaining controlled substances through fraud or forgery. Additionally, she faces two misdemeanor counts for simple possession of a Schedule IV drug.

Defense Responds; LaMelo Ball Not Implicated

In response to the charges, Chaves's legal team, led by attorney Matthew Pruden, issued a statement asserting her position as merely a patient who was fulfilling an order provided by a treating physician. Her defense maintains that she neither forged any documents nor created any prescriptions herself. Instead, they state she collected what she believed to be a legitimate prescription at the pharmacy counter.

To clarify, the charges allege that a doctor who used a fraudulent DEA registration and NPI number prescribed Alprazolam for Ms. Chaves, and that she used the prescription written by the doctor to obtain the prescribed Alprazolam at a pharmacy.

For fans of the Timberwolves and the NBA, official police records confirm that LaMelo Ball, Chaves’s partner, is not named or implicated in any aspect of this pharmaceutical investigation.

This unexpected legal situation arises during a significant year for the couple, who welcomed their son, LaOne, in January, preceding Ball's commencement of his offseason training routine.

Chaves secured her release on bond shortly after her processing. She is scheduled to appear before a judge for her court hearing on October 20.
