Brock Lesnar, a prominent and dominant figure in professional wrestling, officially declared his retirement on Tuesday, days after sustaining a defeat to Oba Femi in a Hell in a Cell match at SummerSlam.
Appearing on "The Pat McAfee Show," Lesnar conveyed his decision to step away from the sport.
"I’m here today to do this interview to let the world and everybody know that I am retired and I wanted to say a big thank you to everybody," Lesnar stated. He reflected on the emotional nature of his final match, adding, "Saturday was a very emotional day for me and kinda weird because I did … when Oba Femi slammed me at WrestleMania, I was like, I can’t do this again. I lost, I think I’m done."
He acknowledged a brief period of reconsideration but ultimately confirmed his departure from active competition.
"But the business and I still had some fuel in the tank but Saturday for Brock Lesnar – that’s it. That’s it for me in the squared circle and for everything else," he affirmed.
A Legacy of Dominance and Mentorship
Following his final loss to Femi, Lesnar publicly endorsed his opponent, positioning him as a future cornerstone of the WWE. The veteran wrestler demonstrably raised Femi’s hand in the ring before departing with visible emotion, signaling a passing of the torch.
Reflecting on his journey, Lesnar shared his humble beginnings.
"I was just a farm kid from South Dakota with big dreams and a big heart and a big a-- chip on my shoulder," he added.
He expressed deep appreciation for his career and longevity in the demanding sport.
"I’m just grateful. Grateful to be 49 years old and to have to be able to do what I did in this lifetime, I think God and everyone that supported me," Lesnar concluded.
Illustrious Career and Final Act
This recent retirement announcement marks Lesnar's second apparent departure from the ring this year. He had previously signaled the end of his career after an initial loss to Femi at WrestleMania 42 in April, symbolically leaving his boots in the ring. However, he returned weeks later to challenge Femi again, securing a victory at Clash in Italy before their ultimate encounter at SummerSlam.
Lesnar concludes his illustrious career as a 10-time WWE champion and a two-time Royal Rumble winner. Beyond his personal accolades, his final storyline played a crucial role in establishing Oba Femi as a significant emerging talent within the company, cementing Lesnar's impact both as a competitor and a mentor.
