Nobu Malibu Chef Dies After Teen Driver Crashes into His Parked Car

A seasoned sushi chef at the renowned Nobu Malibu restaurant in California died following a collision involving a teenage driver who crashed into his parked vehicle as he slept.

Ryo Uchimiya, 51, had dedicated 25 years of his career to the celebrated Japanese eatery as a sushi chef, according to reports.

The incident occurred on a Saturday morning around 6:50 a.m. Uchimiya had parked his sedan along the curb and was taking a nap before beginning his shift when a 16-year-old boy, driving a Range Rover, reportedly struck the rear of the chef's car.

Investigation Underway

Authorities from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department indicated that the teenager appeared to be traveling at an excessive speed when his SUV collided with Uchimiya’s vehicle. Investigators have stated there is currently no evidence suggesting the teenager was impaired by drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.

The question of whether the teenage driver will face charges remains open as the investigation into the fatal incident continues.
