Brooklyn Police Seek Suspect After 90-Year-Old Woman Attacked with Furniture on Sidewalk

Law enforcement authorities are actively seeking an individual responsible for assaulting a 90-year-old woman on a Brooklyn sidewalk earlier this week. Surveillance footage reportedly captured the violent incident.
Incident Details Emerge
The New York City Police Department (NYPD) confirmed the attack occurred on Monday at approximately 9:47 a.m., outside 501 Brighton Beach Avenue in the Brighton Beach area.
According to police accounts, the elderly woman was walking when an unidentified male assailant approached her, throwing a piece of furniture that caused her to fall. The suspect then fled the scene on foot.
Video surveillance footage reportedly depicts the individual pushing what appeared to be a discarded baby crib, laden with debris, along the sidewalk. The footage then shows the suspect suddenly lifting the object and throwing it at the elderly woman as she passed by. The forceful impact caused the woman to fall to the ground, while the assailant seemingly continued walking away without apparent haste.
Victim's Condition and Ongoing Investigation
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the location and transported the injured woman to NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island. Authorities stated she was in stable condition following the incident.
Investigators have not yet determined a motive for the assault, and it remains unknown whether the suspect and the victim had any prior connection.
The individual responsible for the attack has not yet been apprehended and remains at large.

The NYPD has publicly released a photograph of the man they are searching for. At the time of the incident, he was described as wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and white sneakers.
