A 22-year-old traveler tragically passed away following a medical incident on a Southwest Airlines flight en route to Los Angeles. The individual has been identified as Rain McMillan Walmsey, and officials are currently examining the circumstances surrounding his sudden death.
Walmsey became unresponsive on August 7 during Southwest Flight 958, which originated in Dallas and was destined for Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Efforts to revive him began immediately on board the aircraft.
Recent records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner indicate that the inquiry into Walmsey’s death remains active, with the precise cause still undetermined. The medical examiner listed Walmsey as a 22-year-old male, noting his death occurred on the "LAX Southwest plane."
The cause of death has been categorized as "deferred," which the medical examiner’s office explains signifies that the final determination awaits further investigation. No official manner of death has yet been recorded.
Sources familiar with law enforcement operations confirmed to a local news outlet that Walmsey suffered a medical emergency while Flight 958 was airborne. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was administered to him during the flight. Upon the plane's arrival at LAX, paramedics were on standby, but despite their efforts, Walmsey could not be resuscitated and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The specific nature of the medical emergency he experienced has not been disclosed.
